Service Delivery Barriers in Pediatric Feeding Disorder: A Path Forward.
Аннотация
PURPOSE: This article examines barriers and facilitators to the care of children with pediatric feeding disorder (PFD), a complex condition that impacts individuals, families, medical institutions, and communities.
METHOD: This clinical focus article was developed through a targeted literature synthesis and conceptual analysis leading to the identification and grouping of care barriers.
RESULTS
Multiple barriers affecting professionals and caregivers were identified, including limitations in resources, clinical tools, care coordination, accessibility, and caregiver-related factors.
CONCLUSIONS
The identification of barriers reveals the need for unified strategic approaches to improve care efforts. Five key initiatives are proposed: advancing research, policy, and guidelines; providing PFD-specific professional training; expanding access to care; strengthening support systems; and enhancing caregiver education and engagement.
