Аннотация

Alcohol is commonly used alongside anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS), yet its relationship with mental health in this population remains poorly understood. Among people reporting recent AAS use, hazardous drinkers reported higher prevalence of multiple psychiatric diagnoses than low-risk drinkers, particularly mood, anxiety, trauma-related, and psychotic conditions. These associations remained after adjustment for past 12-month use of other drugs beyond alcohol and AAS. Alcohol-risk level may therefore help identify AAS consumers who require more comprehensive mental health assessment.
