[Progress in research of epidemiological characteristics and prevention strategies of Nipah virus].

Nipah virus (NiV) is a highly lethal zoonotic virus, causing sporadic or local infection outbreaks in south and southeast Asia in recent years. In January 2026, India reported a new round of NiV infection outbreak, indicating that the virus still poses a threat to global public health. Currently, the prevention and control of NiV infection in different countries mainly focus on blocking the transmission from animals and strengthening the control of nosocomial infection. However, as no effective vaccine has been developed yet, the risk for the cross-border transmission still exists. This paper summarizes the progress in research of etiological characteristics, detection and infection status, epidemiological characteristics, and prevention and control measures of NiV infection, analyzes the differences in the transmission patterns of NiV infection in different areas and the risk of nosocomial transmission to provide reference for the effective prevention and control of NiV infection.
