Radioulnar Synostosis After Isolated Undisplaced Distal Ulna Fracture: A Rare Case Report and Review of the Literature.
Аннотация
CASE: A 50-year-old man developed radioulnar synostosis and presented with restricted forearm rotation, 15 months after sustaining an undisplaced fracture of the ulna. Radiographs and computed tomography revealed a mature bony bridge between the forearm bones. Surgical excision of the heterotopic bone was performed, and bone wax was applied to mitigate hemorrhage and prevent recurrence. Postoperatively, the patient achieved near-complete pronation and supination and no recurrence was found at the end of 2 years of follow-up.
CONCLUSION
Radioulnar synostosis is an infrequent complication associated with isolated undisplaced ulnar fractures, leading to loss of forearm rotation and should be managed with surgical excision and appropriate rehabilitation.
