[The current status of pump therapy options for advanced Parkinson's disease in Hungary].

Background and aim - Parkinson's disease (PD) is among the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disorders worldwide. In advanced PD, motor fluctuations, dyskinesias and non-motor complications increasingly undermine autonomy and quality of life and may exceed the efficacy of optimized oral/transdermal therapy. We review the current state of infusion (pump) therapies in Hungary, where levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) has been reimbursed since 2011, continuous subcutaneous apomorphine infusion (CSAI) since2021, levodopa-entacapone-carbidopa intrajejunal infusion (LECIG) since 2022, and subcutaneous foslevodopa/foscarbidopa infusion since 2024. Based on the National Health Insurance Fund (NEAK) database, 15 392 men and 15 691 women attended reimbursed care for PD between Nov 2024 and Dec 2025.
