Аннотация

Home hemodialysis (HHD) is associated with greater patient autonomy and treatment satisfaction compared with in-center kidney replacement modalities, yet the level of HHD use is low, particularly in the East Asian region. Reasons for limited HHD use are a strong in-center hemodialysis (ICHD) culture, hospital-based infrastructure, regulatory barriers, limited knowledge among dialysis clinicians, home resource requirements, and patient-related fears regarding self-management. To redress the low HHD uptake in East Asia, a 1-day Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) workshop of key nephrology stakeholders, nephrologists, nurses, and individuals receiving HHD from East Asia was held in September 2025 in Kawagoe, Japan. The goals were to create a strategic framework and a roadmap for expanding HHD in key East Asian countries. This report details the workshop content and provides a roadmap for stakeholders to move forward, with the aim to increase the therapeutic options for people with kidney failure.
