Аннотация

We describe annual trends of age-standardized periods of care of ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSC) in a 23-year time series (2002-2024) in Finland using a national Sotkanet Indicator Bank information. Overall, we observed a reduction of 54% of the baseline value in ACSC period of care during the study period. The decrease of period of care was associated with the COVID-19 pandemic years (2020-2022) in Finland. Forecast estimates of annual ACSC period of care in 2020-2024 were significantly higher than the actual numbers. During the first two years (2023-2024) of the major healthcare, social welfare and rescue services the annual ACSC age-standardized period of care remained on a lower level than before year 2023. Our observations support indirectly a better performing public primary healthcare over time. This is an example of utilization of national level data systems for a defined task to describe performance of a service system over time.
