Application of 3D Printing Technology in Standardized Training of Laparoscopic Techniques for Resident Physicians in Hepatobiliary Surgery.

OBJECTIVE

To explore the application effect of 3D printing technology in the standardized training of laparoscopic techniques for resident physicians in hepatobiliary surgery, so as to guide the formulation of laparoscopic training programs for resident physicians in hepatobiliary surgery and improve the quality of clinical training.

METHODS

Sixty resident trainees who rotated in the hepatobiliary surgery department of the hospital from September 2024 to January 2025 were selected as research subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 30 trainees in each group. The control group received a conventional training program, while the observation group adopted a training program integrated with 3D printing technology. The performance assessment results, laparoscopic operation techniques and skills, training quality, and training satisfaction were compared between the 2 groups.

RESULTS

After training, the clinical skill scores and theoretical knowledge scores of both groups improved significantly, and those in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (p < 0.05). The Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills scores and Global Operative Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills scores of both groups increased after training, with the observation group showing higher scores (p < 0.05). The training quality scores of the observation group, including stimulating learning interest, improving clinical work competence, enhancing clinical thinking ability, and deepening the cognition of teaching content, were all significantly higher than those of the control group (p < 0.05). The training satisfaction rate of the observation group was 100.00% (30/30), which was significantly higher than 80.00% (24/30) of the control group (p < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONS

The application of 3D printing technology in the standardized training of laparoscopic techniques for resident physicians in hepatobiliary surgery can significantly improve the quality of training, promote trainees' mastery of laparoscopic surgical skills and knowledge, and enhance training satisfaction, which is worthy of clinical application.
