[Secondary prevention of mental disorders caused by the initial forms of cerebral atherosclerosis].

A 5-year follow-up of a representative group of patients showed that the use of secondary prophylaxis of mental disorders in atherosclerosis (combat with excessive body weight, smoking, adynamia, excessive physical and mental exertion, etc.) led to a decrease in risk factors, improvement in the psychic status, reduction of psychopathological symptomatology, prevention of atherosclerosis complications, as well as to a considerable improvement in the patients' working ability.
