Аннотация
Rumination syndrome is a disorder of gut-brain interaction characterized by regurgitation of food and/or fluid shortly after ingestion. While medical management for stabilization of nutrition/weight and hydration and comorbid gastrointestinal symptoms is pertinent, behavioral intervention is the primary treatment to address rumination syndrome. This article describes rumination syndrome, the epidemiology and pathophysiology, medical and psychosocial consequences, and medical and behavioral treatment. A case study is utilized throughout for further description. Relevant research is also reviewed.
