Аннотация
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is increasingly utilized in the management of liver and biliary tract cancers. Compared with open surgery, oncologic outcomes are equivalent, and many patients benefit from reduced post-operative morbidity. As experience with MIS has grown, increasingly complex hepatobiliary (HB) resections are being performed with minimally invasive approaches. While feasible and safe, surgeons must carefully assess case complexity and have a high level of expertise in both MIS and HB surgery to ensure favorable patient outcomes. Complex cases should be performed at high-volume centers and comprehensive, stepwise training curricula should be employed to improve patient outcomes.
