Аннотация
Upper airway compromise is a potentially life-threatening condition requiring a high index of suspicion and proper and timely treatment planning. The present case describes a 40-year-old man presenting with upper airway obstruction secondary to inconspicuous retropharyngeal subcutaneous emphysema after uncomplicated video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Airway compromise is a rare but serious complication of subcutaneous emphysema. Recognizing warning signs, management of subcutaneous air with decompressive techniques, and vigilant airway observation and maintenance are crucial to avoiding emergent airway obstruction and poor outcomes. .
