Аннотация
Coronary chronic total occlusions (CTOs), defined as complete coronary artery obstructions with TIMI 0 flow for 3 months or more, represent one of the most challenging lesion subsets in interventional cardiology. From a histopathological perspective, CTOs are not merely static obstructions but dynamic, evolving entities. Their composition reflects a complex interplay between thrombosis, inflammation, neovascularization, fibrosis, and calcification. Pathologic insights into CTOs-especially the distribution of calcification, structural composition of vessel layers, and orientation of tissue fibers-are fundamental to modern percutaneous coronary intervention techniques.
