Sagittal Skeletal Malocclusions and Sleep Quality in Children Without Orofacial Dysfunction.
Аннотация
This study examined whether sagittal skeletal malocclusions influence sleep quality in children independently of orofacial functional disorders. A total of 164 children (7-13 y) without orofacial dysfunction were classified as class I, II, or III according to cephalometric analysis. Sleep quality was assessed with the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ). For each group, age, family income, SNB angle (mandibular position), SN-GoGn and FMA angles (vertical dimensions), and 2D airway measurements were compared. Correlations between CSHQ scores, SNB, and vertical dimensions were also evaluated. SNB values differed significantly across skeletal groups. Males with class II malocclusion had higher vertical dimensions, whereas females showed no intergroup differences. CSHQ scores and airway dimensions did not differ significantly among groups. No correlation was found between sleep quality and SNB angle or vertical values. In children without orofacial dysfunction, sagittal skeletal malocclusions do not significantly affect sleep quality or airway dimensions.
