Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonist Use Is Associated With and May Lead to Esophageal Motility Abnormalities.
Аннотация
Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are approved for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D). GLP1-RA use has grown exponentially, with a recent survey reporting 1 in 8 adults (12%) in the United States have ever taken a GLP-1RA.1 GLP-1RAs are known to cause a variety of effects on gastrointestinal motility, including increased gastric accommodation, delayed gastric motility, and decreased small intestinal transit. However, little is known regarding the direct effects of GLP-1RAs on esophageal function beyond reported increased risk of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).2 The primary aim of this study was to assess the association of GLP-1RA exposure with findings on esophageal high-resolution manometry (HRM).
