This commentary outlines a successful case study of the collaborative work of research and advocacy in influencing changes in public health policy. It describes how the 2024 study on 'junk food' advertising across South Australian (SA) public transport (Coro et al., Health Promotion Journal of Australia 2024;36:e886) informed advocacy efforts that contributed to the introduction of a statewide policy, effective 1 July 2025, restricting such advertising on buses and trains.
