Аннотация
BACKGROUND/AIM: This retrospective study evaluated the impact of Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) group on time to treatment failure (TTF) in 63 older adults (≥65 years) with unresectable pancreatic cancer receiving gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Receiver operating characteristic analysis established a GNRI cutoff of 94.7, which was used to classify patients into high and low GNRI groups.
RESULTS: The median TTF was significantly longer for the high GNRI group (116.5 days) than the low GNRI group (91 days, p=0.026). Furthermore, multivariate analysis revealed that GNRI ≥94.7 (hazard ratio=0.55, 95% confidence interval=0.31-0.95) and prior chemotherapy (hazard ratio=2.01, 95% confidence interval=1.06-3.78) were independent factors significantly influencing TTF.
CONCLUSION: Baseline GNRI is a predictor of treatment continuation. Therefore, early nutritional assessment using the GNRI may help optimize treatment strategies and supportive care in older patients with pancreatic cancer.
