Аннотация
In stomatal development, epidermal cells progress through distinct stages as they differentiate into stomatal guard cells, a process orchestrated by closely related basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors. In their work, Pablo González-Suárez, Dominique Bergmann, Margot Smit and colleagues present a revised model in which stomatal regulators are not strictly separated in time, and identify late stomatal targets that control stomatal complex morphology. To learn more about their work, we spoke with the first author, Pablo González-Suárez, and corresponding author, Margot Smit, an Independent Junior Group Leader at the Zentrum für Molekularbiologie der Pflanzen (ZMBP), Tübingen, Germany.
