Аннотация
Tumors of the central mandible requiring marginal mandibulectomy and floor of mouth resection require reconstruction for cosmetic and functional purposes. Numerous reconstructive techniques have been described for small-moderate sized defects of the central mandible/anterior floor of mouth. Robust local flaps have been well described; however second stage procedures are required for pedicle division. The split mentalis muscle flap is a simple, quick and low morbidity option for central mandibular defects and has been demonstrated effectively with the use of a split skin graft. We provide a modification of the split mentalis muscle flap without the morbidity associated with a split skin graft and its utility to support a prosthesis following surgery and radiotherapy.
