Аннотация
The author analyzes the potentialities of urgent cytologic diagnosis in 54 cases with malignant tumors located in the mediastinum. Cytologic analysis carried out at the final stage of the diagnosis of malignant tumors (during surgery) helped specify the diagnosis and determine future strategy: a correct conclusion on the malignant nature of the tumor was given in 44 cases after an urgent cytologic analysis; in 21 of these the histologic form of the tumor was identified.
