[The efficasy of atorvastatin in the case of paroxismal atrial fibrillation in patients with ischemic heart disease].

The purpose of the study was to estimate efficiency of atorvastatin in complex treatment with antiarhythmic drugs on the background of ischemic heart disease in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). The investigation was conducted on 65 patients (37-72 years old) during 2 years. Two groups were composed. The first group included 28 patients who underwent anta rhythmic treatment on the background of standard therapy. The second group was composed of 37 patients who underwent combined treatment with therapy by atorvastatin 10-20mg daily dose. During period of investigation AF was observed in 32% of patients in the I group and in 14% of patients in II group. It was revealed that the complex therapy with atorvastatin minimizes the episodes of AF.
