Аннотация
Intracorneal foreign bodies that persist for a long time are rare. This report presents an unusual case of a foreign body retained in the cornea for over 25 years. The patient, a 42-year-old woman, had a history of ocular trauma caused by a wooden stick. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy of her right eye revealed a 1.5 mm-long intracorneal foreign body extending through Descemet's membrane into the anterior chamber. Since the foreign body was asymptomatic, the patient was monitored, and follow-up examinations at 6 and 12 months showed no changes. This case challenges the conventional understanding that non-organic intracorneal foreign bodies are generally well-tolerated, while organic ones are not.
