BACKGROUND: Inflammation and immune dysfunction may worsen the prognosis of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
AIMS: This study aimed to assess whether the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte index (hsCALLYI) could be used to predict the prognosis of STEMI patients who received emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) treatment.
METHODS: Participants were categorized into three groups based on hsCALLYI tertiles. To assess the prognostic significance of hsCALLYI in predicting both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, Kaplan-Meier survival curves were constructed, followed by Cox proportional hazards regression modeling and time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis.
RESULTS: A lower level of hsCALLYI demonstrated a significant correlation with elevated mortality risk from all causes (hazard ratio [HR] = 9.826, 95% CI = 3.091-31.235, p < 0.001) and cardiovascular mortality (HR = 15.035, 95% CI = 3.353-67.408, p < 0.001). The area under the ROC curve of hsCALLYI for all-cause mortality was 0.696 (p < 0.05), and the area under the ROC curve of hsCALLYI for cardiovascular mortality was 0.695 (p < 0.05).
CONCLUSION: hsCALLYI emerged as a significant independent prognostic indicator for both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in STEMI patients undergoing emergency PCI.
