Аннотация

Falls are a serious health problem among older adults. This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of a nurse-delivered foot health program for individuals aged 65 years or older. A sample of 58 individuals participated in a 12-session program. The program included plantar massage, group postural workshops focusing on foot and ankle strengthening and stretching, and the use of minimalist footwear. The program was completed by 51 participants from five different nursing homes. The participation rate was 77.3%, and participant satisfaction was rated at 8.7/10. Participants improved in all physical and psychological outcomes, such as Timed Up and Go (TUG), foot pain, and fear of falling (FoF). However, only changes in TUG and pain when wearing shoes were statistically significant. High attendance rates and positive participant feedback indicated high program feasibility. The study provides preliminary evidence of potential positive effects on fall risk factors over time.
