Annual carbon emissions for dialysis treatments in different regions range from 3818-10,200 kgrs for haemodialysis (HD) and 1450-4503 CO2 eq/pt/year which correlates to the carbon foot print of production of 2727-7285 lits or driving a car for 27,291-72,909 km. In order to communicate as a scientific team and to understand each other we have to use terms that actually describe our "problem". There is also need of a full environmental assessment concerning blood purification technology.
