Full-arch dental implant rehabilitation in a patient with Von Willebrand disease: a case report.
Аннотация
INTRODUCTION
Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the most common congenital bleeding disorder with multiple types. Patients with VWD pose a serious risk for surgical interventions.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: This case report discusses successful full-mouth dental clearance, bone augmentation, and dental implant rehabilitation in a patient with VWD. A 48-year-old female patient with type 2A VWD suffered from partial edentulism in both the upper and lower arches, as well as badly decayed, heavily restored teeth with multiple periapical abscesses. Dental clearance and immediate implant placement were carried out under general anesthesia with proper antifibrinolytic and Wilate prophylaxis. The patient was in stable condition post-operatively and showed good healing in follow-up visits; the implants were subsequently restored.
DISCUSSION: To the author's knowledge, this is the first case of full-mouth implant rehabilitation in a patient with VWD.
CONCLUSION
Thorough planning and adequate optimization of the patient for surgery, along with careful surgical technique and selection of materials, aid in treating patients with VWD, greatly increasing the chances of success.
