Diabetes and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: A 2-sample Mendelian randomization study.
Аннотация
Diabetes has been suggested as a potential risk factor for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), but whether a genetic-level causal relationship exists between the 2 remains unclear. A 2-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) analysis was conducted using genome-wide association study data from the FinnGen database (T1DM: n = 408,210; T2DM: n = 486,367; BPPV: n = 486,845). The inverse variance weighted method was the primary analytical approach, supplemented by weighted median, MR-Egger, and other methods to assess causal effects. Pleiotropy and heterogeneity tests were also performed. Inverse variance weighted analysis revealed no significant genetic associations between T1DM (β = 0.105, P = .151, OR = 1.110, 95% CI: 0.962-1.281) or T2DM (β = 0.019, P = .282, OR = 1.019, 95% CI: 0.985-1.055) and BPPV. Sensitivity analyses confirmed the robustness of the results (Cochran Q P > .05, MR-Egger Intercept P > .05). This study found no genetic causal relationship between diabetes type (T1DM or T2DM) and BPPV at the genetic level.
