Kinetic properties of open rectangular columns (based on Poppe data).

By using the least square curve-fitting to published (Poppe, 2002) discrete computer simulation data for rectangular columns (the columns with rectangular cross-section), a continuous dependence of the column dimensionless plate height (h) on the dimensions of its cross-section has been obtained. The h-data in the source is unsuitable for comparing the performance of rectangular columns with differently structured ones (packed, open circular, etc.). In this report, the discrete h-data from the source was transformed into the kinetic performance factor (q) data which then was also transformed by the curve-fitting into continuous dependency of q on the column cross-sectional dimensions. The performance of the rectangular columns was compared with that of differently structured others.
