Аннотация
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) performed via the esophagus is a valuable modality for the diagnosis and staging of benign and malignant mediastinal pathologies, distinct from endobronchial ultrasound. It enables fine-needle aspiration or fine-needle biopsy of mediastinal lymph nodes and lesions, thereby enhancing diagnostic precision. We report a case of a SMARCA4-deficient undifferentiated thoracic tumor (SMARCA4-UT) diagnosed via EUS-guided fine-needle biopsy. SMARCA4-UTs are a recently recognized rare and highly aggressive subset of thoracic malignancies. In this case, EUS fine-needle biopsy of a metastatic mediastinal lesion provided sufficient tissue for final diagnosis. This case underscores the potential utility of EUS in the diagnostic workup of rare mediastinal tumors.
