Аннотация

BACKGROUND: The West Haven Yale Multidimensional Pain Inventory (MPI) has been widely used to assess cognitive, behavioral, and psychosocial dimensions of chronic pain. However, the Chinese version of this instrument has not yet undergone comprehensive psychometric validation.

PURPOSE: To examine the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the MPI in patients with head and neck cancer.

METHODS: The MPI was translated according to Brislin's translation model and culturally adapted through cognitive interviews. Psychometric evaluation, including item analysis, content validity, criterion-related validity, construct validity, and internal consistency, was conducted among 430 patients with head and neck cancer.

RESULTS: The Chinese version of the MPI comprises 45 items across 11 subscales and was divided into 3 sections (Parts A, B, and C). The Cronbach's α coefficients for Parts A, B, and C were 0.829, 0.732, and 0.845, respectively. The scale-level content validity indices (S-CVI/Ave) for Parts A, B, and C were 0.991, 0.976, and 0.954, respectively. Exploratory factor analysis demonstrated that all item factor loadings exceeded 0.450. Except for the Support subscale, all subscales were significantly correlated with the total score and dimensions of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), yielding absolute correlation coefficients ranging from 0.131-0.862.

CONCLUSION: The Chinese version of the MPI demonstrated good cross-cultural adaptability, as well as robust reliability and validity. This instrument may serve as a comprehensive tool for assessing the psychological, behavioral, and social dimensions of pain.
