Аннотация
Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are widely employed as host cells for the production of recombinant therapeutic proteins (RTPs). Glycosylation, a crucial post-translational modification, significantly affects the function and quality of RTPs expressed in CHO cells. This modification not only influences protein folding, stability, and immunogenicity, but also dictates their biological activity and half-life. This review summarizes the biological role of glycosylation within CHO cells, analyzes both intrinsic and extrinsic factors affecting recombinant protein glycosylation, and explores recent strategies for controlling this process, such as gene editing and cell culture optimization. These approaches offer promising avenues for effectively modulating the glycosylation patterns of RTPs, thereby enhancing their biological activity and stability. Furthermore, we also discuss current challenges in controlling glycosylation and provide insights into future research directions in this field.
