A case of surgical excision of cyanoacrylate-filled vein due to delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction following cyanoacrylate closure for lower-extremity varicose veins.
Аннотация
Hypersensitivity reaction (HSR) is a known adverse event after cyanoacrylate closure (CAC) for varicose veins, and surgical excision is rarely required. We report the case of surgical excision of a cyanoacrylate-filled vein due to HSR after CAC. A 68-year-old woman developed erythema and swelling of the thigh 5 days after CAC of the great saphenous vein. Symptoms persisted despite antiallergic medication, and HSR was clinically suspected. At the patient's request, surgical excision of the treated vein was performed. Histopathological examination showed dense infiltration of CD4-positive T cells. Surgical excision may be considered in selected cases of refractory HSR after CAC.
