Аннотация
BACKGROUND: Ectopic pancreatic tissue is a rare congenital anomaly and usually presents along the gastrointestinal tract. If not recognized, it can be confused histologically with an adenocarcinoma.
CASE: We report a case arising in periaortic adipose tissue, found incidentally in a woman undergoing periaortic lymphadenectomy for recurrent ovarian carcinoma.
CONCLUSION: We found no other reports of this lesion in periaortic tissue. Clinicians and pathologists need to be aware of this entity, which may rarely be encountered.
