Аннотация

BACKGROUND

Several surgical methods have been provided for labia minora hypertrophy and clitoral hood redundancy. Careful planning is essential for simplifying the surgical approach and improving efficacy. This study aimed to provide an easy and safe two-part excision method for composite labia minora and clitoral hood reduction.

METHODS

The surgery was performed in two parts. First, the excessive clitoral hood tissue was removed; then, the prominent part of the labia minora was removed by edge resection. Preoperative reasons for surgery and postoperative complications were recorded. Satisfaction rates were evaluated based on the Genital Appearance Satisfaction (GAS) scales.

RESULTS

Between April 2019 and October 2024, a total of 68 patients underwent surgery due to physical discomfort (56/68, 82.4%), poor aesthetic (42/68, 61.8%), poor hygiene (22/68, 32.4%), and interference with sexual intercourse (9/68, 13.2%). Ages ranged from 19 to 48 years. Five patients experienced complications (7.4%). One patient (1.5%) underwent revision surgery. The postoperative GAS scale demonstrated a significant improvement compared to the preoperative scale (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONS

The two-part resection approach is simple and effective for composite labia minora and clitoral hood reduction, leading to high functional and aesthetic satisfaction rates, with few complications. Edge labia minora resection can provide a "pink" edge. This surgical method is more suitable for inexperienced surgeons.
