Аннотация

This qualitative study explored players' perceptions and experiences of wheelchair basketball (WCBB) as an inclusive sport across multiple U.K.-based settings. Ten WCBB players, with and without disabilities, participated in semistructured interviews. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to analyze the interview data. Four themes were generated: (a) inclusion is about more than access and reverse integration, (b) inclusion promoted through the rules of WCBB, (c) a variety of competitions as pathways to inclusion, and (d) inclusion is dependent on diversity in coaching. While reverse integration was generally viewed as a positive mechanism for increasing participation, the findings demonstrate that access alone does not guarantee inclusive experiences. Instead, inclusion was experienced as a relational and identity-forming process, influenced by players' sense of belonging, value, and meaningful participation within WCBB environments. The findings identify practical opportunities to inform policy, coaching practice, and the continued growth of inclusive disability sport.
