Аннотация
Soft matter science-the science of complex condensed systems, characterized by abundant interfaces and the capacity for strong responses to modest perturbations, encompassing polymers, colloids, gels, surfactants, liquid crystals, and even less obvious subfields such as micro- and nanofluidics, where the role of interfaces becomes even more dominant due to extreme confinement-has long been a driving force behind industrial innovation. This can be explained, on the one hand, by the unique properties of flexibility, responsiveness, and adaptability of soft materials, and on the other hand, by its impact on the shaping and processing of materials, and on their properties during use. This article explores the historical and contemporary links between industry and soft matter, up to modern innovations in various fields. It examines the outcomes of academic-industrial collaborations, the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, and the emerging role of high-throughput experiments in reshaping research paradigms. By drawing parallels with global advancements, this article underscores the critical role of fundamental research in addressing future challenges, from sustainable energy to adaptive materials.
