Coaching is increasingly utilized to support health care leader development and enhance leader impact. Leadership coaching supports broader self-awareness, effectiveness, well-being, emotional intelligence, and goal attainment. Leaders using a "coach approach" support their teams through curiosity, empathy, attentive listening, and positive reframing. Distinct from mentorship, coaching empowers leaders and their followers to generate solutions, aligning actions with values and accountability. Developing coaching skills for a leadership role requires intentional practice and reflection, resulting in more meaningful relationships, deeper trust, improved team dynamics, and greater impact in the complex environments health care leaders navigate today.
