Аннотация
BACKGROUND: The legalization of assisted dying remains open for debate in the United Kingdom, where the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is currently under review. It is paramount to consider patient and clinician attitudes on assisted dying and understand how legalization of assisted dying may alter care delivery in the United Kingdom.
OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this clinical review is to facilitate healthcare professionals' understanding of the clinical implications for practice and how their attitudes and those of their patients may influence the future of care delivery in the palliative setting.
METHODS: This article combines a clinical review of qualitative and quantitative studies from the past 10 years. The selected sources were assessed and analyzed using a thematic approach.
FINDINGS: Several studies were cross-examined that focused primarily on patient and clinician attitudes toward the legalization of assisted dying. Ethical and legal considerations were identified by most studies regarding legalizing assisted dying.
