Аннотация

An 80-year-old female patient presented with intermediate-risk pulmonary embolism with underlying etiology called May-Thurner syndrome-a contralateral right common iliac artery compressing the left common iliac vein against the lumbar vertebra and causing a cascade of endothelial changes, stenosis, and thrombi formation. It is common among young women with deep vein thrombosis or chronic venous insufficiency symptoms over their left leg. Diagnosis is confirmed by intravascular ultrasound examination. This patient was successfully treated through a multidisciplinary team approach, which included percutaneous mechanical embolectomy, inferior vena cava filter, stenting of the left common iliac vein, and systemic anticoagulation.
