Аннотация

INTRODUCTION

Premature ejaculation (PE) is the most common sexual dysfunction in men, negatively affecting quality of life and psychological well-being. Local anesthetic agents, such as lidocaine and benzocaine, which help manage PE by reducing glans penis sensitivity, are widely used in the treatment of PE. However, comparative data on the efficacy of different topical agents are limited.

OBJECTIVE

This study aims to evaluate and compare the effects of EMLA cream (lidocaine and prilocaine), lidocaine spray, and benzocaine condoms on intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) in patients diagnosed with lifelong PE. MATERIALS AND

METHODS

In this prospective study, 273 male patients who met ISSM criteria and presented to the andrology outpatient clinic were examined. Patients were randomized into three groups: 59 patients used EMLA cream, 126 patients used lidocaine spray, and 88 patients used benzocaine condoms. Data on age, BMI, duration of marriage, frequency of intercourse, and IELT (pre- and post-treatment) were collected.

RESULTS

IELT was significantly prolonged in all groups after treatment (p < 0.05). The highest IELT increase was observed in the lidocaine spray group, followed by the EMLA cream and benzocaine condom groups. Side effects were minimal and the lowest in the condom group.

CONCLUSION

Lidocaine spray and EMLA cream significantly prolonged IELT compared to benzocaine condoms, demonstrating their short-term effectiveness in the management of PE. Further studies are needed to evaluate the long-term efficacy and patient satisfaction of these treatments.
