S-Axially coordinated FeN4S1 SACs enable selective oxidative C(sp2)-N cleavage of N-arylazoles to azoles under mild conditions with broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and high efficiency. Mechanistic studies reveal a radical pathway involving high-valent FeIV/VO species for inert C(sp2)-N bond activation in N-arylazoles.
