[Coordination between Primary Care and the Primary Care Clinical Psychology Program (PSICAP) for the Detection and Management of Suicidal Behavior: Recommendations for Good Clinical Practice].

Suicidal behavior is a major public health concern and one of the leading causes of preventable death worldwide. Primary care plays a strategic role in suicide prevention owing to its accessibility, continuity of care, and longitudinal knowledge of patients, facilitating the early identification of individuals at risk. Collaboration with the Primary Care Clinical Psychology Program (PSICAP) strengthens this approach through continuous professional training, clinical consultation, and the establishment of shared criteria for assessment, follow-up, and referral. This paper provides evidence-based recommendations for good clinical practice to support the detection, assessment, and management of suicidal behavior in primary care. It describes the main risk and protective factors, key elements of the clinical interview, risk stratification, and coordination criteria between Primary Care, the PSICAP Program, Mental Health Services, and Emergency Departments, with the aim of improving patient safety and ensuring continuity of care.
