The Association of Window Ventilation Frequency with Depressive Symptoms Among Older Chinese People: Perceived Sleep Duration and Psychological Resilience.
Аннотация
INTRODUCTION
Little is known about the potential mechanism of window ventilation behavior on depressive symptoms in older people.
METHODS
Associations between window ventilation frequency and depressive symptoms were investigated with modified Poisson regression using the 2018 data of the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS), with 11,374 Chinese adults aged 65 years and over. Serial mediation models were applied to investigate if self-reported total sleep duration and psychological resilience mediated the association between window ventilation frequency and depressive symptoms.
RESULTS
Window ventilation frequency was negatively associated with depressive symptoms. The mitigating effect of high window ventilation frequency on depressive symptoms had the highest efficacy in spring and the lowest in winter. Window ventilation frequency also had a significant link with depressive symptoms through three significant mediating pathways: the mediating role of self-reported total sleep duration, the mediating role of psychological resilience, and the mediating role of self-reported total sleep duration and psychological resilience, separately.
DISCUSSION: Findings of this study highlighted the mechanism that connects window ventilation behavior to depressive symptoms in older adults.
