Clinical Role of anogenital distance in Predicting pelvic floor training outcomes for stress urinary incontinence.
Аннотация
AIM: To evaluate the predictive value of anogenital distance (AGD) measurements, including the anus-to-clitoris distance (AGDAC) and genital hiatus (GH), on the success of pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) in women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
METHODS
This prospective study included 150 adult women with clinically confirmed stress urinary incontinence who met the inclusion criteria. All patients' demographic data were recorded, and the anogenital distance (AGDAC, AGDAF) and genital hiatus (GH) were measured using a digital caliper. Patients were then classified as responders or non-responders based on clinical improvement. Associations between PFMT outcomes and AGD parameters, BMI, parity, and other demographic factors were analyzed.
RESULTS
PFMT resulted in symptomatic improvement in more than half of the participants. Patients who responded positively to PFMT had significantly lower BMI (p = 0.003), higher rates of nulliparity (p = 0.026), shorter AGDAC (p = 0.002), and shorter GH distances (p = 0.017). In multivariable regression analysis, BMI < 30 kg/m2 (p = 0.001), shorter AGDAC (p = 0.021), and shorter GH (p = 0.029) independently predicted successful outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS
AGD measurements, particularly AGDAC and GH, were associated with PFMT success in women with SUI. These morphometric parameters may have potential utility in future patient stratification strategies; however, further validation studies are required before routine clinical implementation.
