Clinical Application of the Percutaneous Orbital Fat Release Technique for Correcting Lower Eyelid Bags and Lacrimal Groove Deformities.
Аннотация
BACKGROUND
Severe lower eyelid blepharoplasty complications and lacrimal groove deformities can significantly impact a person's overall appearance and well-being. Although various treatment methods exist, this article focuses on clinical research related to the surgical correction of lower eyelid blepharoplasty combined with lacrimal groove deformities.
OBJECTIVE
To retrospectively analyze the clinical efficacy of the percutaneous orbital fat release technique for correcting lower eyelid blepharoplasty combined with lacrimal groove deformity in 23 patients.
METHODS
The patients in this study underwent a procedure in which an appropriate amount of skin was removed, and the orbital fat was secured to the distal fixed periosteum or the superficial layer of the periosteal fascia.
RESULTS
The patient satisfaction rate after surgery was 95.65%, and the improvement rate, according to the physician's evaluation, was 91.30%. The incidence of complications was 21.74%.A significant improvement in the tear trough deformity was observed at the 6-month post-operative follow-up compared to the pre-operative baseline, with a statistically significant difference ( Z = - 4.218 , P < 0.05 ).
CONCLUSIONS
The transcutaneous orbital fat release technique significantly improves Barton grading scores at the 6-month post-operative follow-up, demonstrating clinical feasibility and favorable preliminary efficacy in correcting lower blepharochalasis associated with tear trough deformity. However, given the limitations of a small sample size and the lack of a parallel control group, its long-term stability and broader clinical generalizability warrant further validation through large-scale, high-quality studies.
