Visualized Empowerment Nursing Pathway for Nutritional Outcomes in Lymphoma with Chemotherapy-Induced Oral Mucositis: A Retrospective Cohort Study.

This study examined the effect of an empowerment nursing model on the nutritional status of patients with lymphoma who developed oral mucositis during chemotherapy and further developed a visualized implementation pathway. A total of 133 patients with lymphoma who received chemotherapy and developed oral mucositis between March 2024 and October 2025 were included. Based on previous nursing records, 62 patients who had received an empowerment nursing model centered on "assessment-identification-goal setting-training-implementation-feedback-continuing management" were assigned to the study group, while 71 patients who had received routine nursing were assigned to the control group. After baseline adjustment, the study group showed more favorable Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) and Nutritional Risk Screening (NRS) 2002 scores, body weight, body mass index (BMI), serum nutritional markers, dietary intake, self-management, symptom burden, and quality-of-life outcomes than the control group, while the change in oral mucositis grade and the visual analog scale (VAS) pain score also favored the study group. After false-discovery-rate correction, ulcer duration, mucosal healing time, and length of hospital stay remained shorter in the study group, whereas the differences in malnutrition rate, oral nutritional supplement use, and medication-use duration were no longer significant. These findings suggest that the visualized empowerment nursing pathway was associated with better nutritional status and oral intake, faster recovery from oral mucositis, and stronger self-management ability.
