Аннотация

In this study, we investigated the effects of medication electromagnetic waves (MEMW) derived from the anticancer drug doxorubicin on tumor growth of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell line in a mouse model. Building on prior research, we explored how MEMW inhibits cancer cell proliferation without the toxic side effects associated with traditional chemotherapy. Twenty female nude mice were xenografted with MDA-MB-231 cells and divided into five groups: a control group, a group treated with doxorubicin only, a group treated with doxorubicin plus MEMW, a group treated with MEMW only, and a group treated with MEMW and topical application of olive oil previously exposed to MEMW. Tumor growth was monitored for 21 days. One-way ANOVA tests were used. Significant reductions in tumor growth rate were observed in all treated groups compared to the control group (p < 0.05). The group treated with doxorubicin and MEMW in combination exhibited the highest reduction (85%). While elevated serum AST levels indicated liver toxicity in the groups treated with doxorubicin, the normal AST levels in those treated with MEMW only suggest an improved therapeutic profile. Histopathological evaluation revealed cytotoxic effects and enhanced necrosis in the groups that received combination treatment, while immunohistochemical assays indicated reduction in proliferative activity. Gene expression analysis confirmed that doxorubicin upregulated pro-apoptotic Bcl-2-associated X protein (BAX), while proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was downregulated, aligning with histopathological findings., the results present a novel, non-invasive treatment approach based on MEMW, which may offer a promising alternative for cancer therapy by minimizing toxicity while effectively targeting tumor growth.
