Аннотация
Up to 10% of the population reports being allergic to penicillin or derivatives; however, when the allergological study is carried out, it is not confirmed in 90-95% of the cases, either because of false labelling or because of a sensitivity to drugs that usually decreases over time. The allergological study is complex and includes dermal tests followed, if negative, by an oral challenge test. Given the magnitude of the problem, there are proposals that simplify the study and involve Primary Care, which could play an important role in the study of patients with a low risk of reaction. The article details the steps needed to classify patients with self-reported allergy to penicillin according to risk, after which and in cases where it is indicated, to detect and remove false labels or to be able to perform an oral challenge test safely.
