We investigate the optical trapping of positive- and negative-polarizability Rayleigh particles using a focused optical bottle beam generated by the π-phase superposition of a fundamental Gaussian mode and a radial Laguerre-Gaussian mode. The field propagation is described using the scalar Collins diffraction integral, and the resulting intensity, optical potential, gradient force, and scattering force are analyzed for a polystyrene nanosphere and an air bubble in water. The results demonstrate that the parity of the radial mode index p provides discrete control over the three-dimensional trapping topology. Odd-p modes retain a bright central region and generally favor central confinement of positive-polarizability particles, whereas even-p modes produce a central intensity null that supports dark trapping of negative-polarizability particles and displaced transverse trapping sites for positive-polarizability particles. The two parity families also exhibit different axial stability and distinct local confinement regimes, ranging from locally harmonic to soft quartic trapping.
