The efficacy of 755 nm Alexandrite laser in the treatment of hirsutism.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the 755 nm Alexandrite laser in the treatment of facial hirsutism.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: 50 patients with facial hirsutism underwent 4 to 6 treatment sessions using the 755 nm Alexandrite laser, spaced three to four weeks apart. Clinical assessment was performed using the Ferriman-Gallwey scoring system prior to treatment. Patient response was assessed by their self-reported reduction in hair growth at the end of the protocol.
RESULTS: Results: Most of the patients experienced excessive hair growth on the cheeks, chin, and upper lip. Following treatment, 50% of patients reported a 50-75% reduction in hair growth, 30% reported a reduction greater than 75%, 10% reported a 25-50% reduction, and 10% reported a reduction of less than 25%. Mild erythema and slight discomfort were observed in a few patients.
CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The 755 nm Alexandrite laser appears to be a safe and effective option for long-term facial hair reduction in suitable patients. However, further studies are recommended.
